Working with cars in our import transmission repair shop every day, it’s easy to assume that everybody knows all about how they operate. So, when we were recently asked what the clutch does, it helped us realize that this isn’t true.
The answer is that the clutch provides the connection between the manual transmission and the engine itself. The pedal disengages or reengages these two systems. This allows you to select different gears, depending on the engine power that needs to be sent to the wheels.
Slowly easing off the pedal keeps the engine from stalling. This can be tough for starter drivers to master, which is why you can occasionally see a car hopping along the road like a kangaroo! If you need your clutch looking at, book in for a service with us today.
