I highly recommend Key Transmission.  Joshua is knowledgeable and honest.  When everyone else said I needed a new transmission, Joshua performed several steps before concluding a rebuild was needed. I cannot say enough good things about Josh and Key Transmission!
They recently worked on my Impact Interceptor — a Severe Weather Intercept Vehicle (SWIV) — after I had a complete transmission failure in my 2017 Chevy Colorado. I received some pretty exorbitant quotes from other places, but Key Transmission offered a very fair and reasonable rate. From my very first conversation with Josh, I knew I was dealing with someone who was upfront, honest, and genuinely knowledgeable.
Josh has been working full-time in the transmission industry for more than 23 years, and that experience really showed throughout the entire process.
Josh immediately explained that there was a national backorder on my transmission and that the expected lead time for a remanufactured transmission was approximately 5–7 weeks. There were no false promises or unrealistic timelines — just honest communication about what to expect. Sure enough, the transmission arrived at about week six, and once it was delivered, Josh moved quickly to get the old transmission removed and the replacement installed.
Throughout the entire process, Josh did an excellent job keeping me updated. That communication meant a lot, especially with a vehicle that is as important to my storm tracking and severe weather operations as the Impact Interceptor.
And this is definitely not your average 2017 Chevy Colorado! The Impact Interceptor is highly modified with additional wiring, communications equipment, cameras, electronics, and specialized storm-tracking equipment throughout the vehicle. Josh had to work around and navigate all of those modifications, troubleshoot issues along the way, and make sure everything was functioning properly after the transmission replacement.
He didn't just do the minimum and send me on my way. He went above and beyond to make sure the truck was back in working order.
From the fair pricing and honest communication to his 23+ years of transmission experience, workmanship, and willingness to troubleshoot a highly modified vehicle, I had an outstanding experience with Key Transmission.

I had the transmission in my 2000 Toyota Tundra rebuilt here a little over two years ago, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Since then, I’ve fully outfitted the truck for off-road use and have put thousands of miles on it in all kinds of conditions. The transmission has performed flawlessly the entire time—honestly, it feels even better than stock.
It’s rare to find work that holds up this well over time, especially with the added stress of off-roading. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail really show.
